We were approached by Johnsons Shoes in Farnham to help them improve the windows in their grade listed property, behind their shop. As the property was listed, this meant that it wasn’t possible to change the windows and hence they were looking for advice on a suitable solution. We recommended them to have secondary glazing installed, as it is a perfect option for buildings with strict limitations.

Secondary glazing gives you all the perks of double glazing without compromising the character or guidelines as set out by the protection placed on the property. They can come in a variety of colours, all with an aluminium frame, which is less imposing through the use of a thinner profile. Cosyhomes Windows can also offer a wide choice of combinations, such as fixed position, sliding and side opening.

To find out more about secondary glazing, take a read of our post: what is secondary glazing.

Back again at a popular road in Chessington where we have recently installed windows and doors at 5 properties – there must be something in the water or needless to say, they were impressed with the workmanship from the Cosyhomes team.

The customer wanted to keep the traditional look of the property and considering it was the original windows that were coming out, we didn’t blame them! Many properties have taken away the horizontal Georgian bars but it’s great we were able to recreate the look in modern PVCu. And what a difference the installation has made. The timber was rotten, beyond repair and the windows were drafty.

To add to the look, the customer went for dummy vents to give equal sightlines – this means all the glass at the top and then for the bottom, matched in terms of size. Although it can add a little cost, it does give a real smart finish and works especially well when adding lead work or indeed Georgian bars to the glass. We always suggest that a cost effective way of having dummy vents when considering a whole-house installation is to just have them at the front. The front of the property is the first impression and most people tend not to look up at the rear of their properties. Why not give us a call for a quote for your windows? I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

The customer wanted to replicate the original 1930’s white sashes on black frames for their property. The windows and doors were timber frames with single glazing – they were noisy and cold, draughty and damp. The customer did think they needed to go for triple glazing to make an impact and difference to the efficiency of their home but Cosyhomes were able to demonstrate by upgrading to double glazing alone, it was giving them the solution they needed at the same time as saving them on the additional cost of the Triple Glazing. A great project for us demonstrating the possibilities with coloured foils, leadwork, adjustments in casements sizes and equal sightlines. We are informed that many neighbours have commented on the job and we received this glowing review.

“We wanted Cosyhomes Windows to replicate the 1930’s wooden black frames/white sashes for a UPVC equivalent at our property. From the first phone call to the final installation they had a very warm, friendly approach – they never pushed or pressured our decision.

The end result is fantastic. The quality of the windows are just as we’d expect and the level of workmanship is very pleasing. We would highly recommend this local, family business to anyone looking to replace their windows.”

We visited this semi-detached property in Tolworth, and were asked by the customer to price windows and doors for the whole house. What was apparent when we surveyed the job was that the two bay windows on the front had dropped massively. The only solution was to demolish them both and rebuild with appropriate footings and proper reinforcing. All work was carried out by our in-house team, and in only 1 day (1 very long day) we had rebuilt the bay structures and secured the property ready for the windows to be installed.

The rest of the installation was plain sailing from there. New windows and doors have completed changed the look and feel of this once tired and outdated property, to that of the sophistication and style.

The highly respected John Lewis Partnership contacted us with view to carrying out an installation within the management offices of the Department Store building in Kingston.

They came to us seeking advice on the best option for a set of windows in order to offer greater ventilation whilst still maintaining the architectural design of the building. We were able to find the best solution and the best price – we even got in a cherry picker to carry out part of the work. The job had to be carried out with no disruption to trading.

“Very pleased with the windows. They have made so much difference” – John Maholland, John Lewis, Kingston

The grounds men at Chelsea FC Training Grounds have an important job to do so only the best window company in Surrey was good enough. So good in fact, that we were asked back to complete further work for the Football Club.

A great deal of work is being carried out at the training grounds of Chelsea FC and we at Cosyhomes Windows have played a part in it. We were contracted to supply and fit the 2 grounds mens huts with an array of windows and doors. The job was completed quickly, efficiently and to a very high standard just the way Chelsea liked.

“Great job!” – Gary, Grounds Manager at Chelsea FC

Chessington World of Adventures was going through a massive transformation to make more of the animals and zoo when they asked us to come on board.
We had the wonderful task of kitting out some of the residents at Chessington Zoo with a range of our windows. The gorilla family, the meerkat mates and the lone iguana all had the pleasure of our installation when we were bought on site to add the final touch to the newest of their enclosures.

From survey to making good, Cosyhomes Windows proved it’s as good with animals as it is with people.

“We’re very happy with all the work carried out by the Cosyhomes team” – Kevin, Facilities Manager Chessington World of Adventures

A well-established customer of Cosyhomes Windows; we were invited to carry out a whole-house installation on this property in Oxshott. The customer asked us to match into the original white casement windows with Georgian bars, ogee architrave and was very pleased with the end result.

The windows and doors were also replaced in the extension at the rear of the property, giving it the look and feel of a conservatory or garden room allowing more light and air flow. I’m sure you’ll agree, a fantastic installation and high quality job for Cosyhomes.

A lovely couple that Cosyhomes had previously worked for moved to this property out in Godalming. The task was to match the original timber windows, and replace some old patio sliders with French doors. At the same time we needed to replicate the arched detail section at the top of each casement – there were a number of different sized windows and doors so templates were produced and sent away for laser cutting. All windows and doors were to be aluminium, with an exacting style of diamond lead – the customer was looking for a meticulous and detailed approach.
Both the customer and the team at Cosyhomes were incredibly pleased with the end result.

“Having used Cosyhomes to fit the double glazing in our previous house they were at the top of our list for the work after we moved. Although not the cheapest in the market we knew their quality standards and were happy to pay the premium. We set them a big challenge not only in quality standards but technically to replicate the arched head style of our existing wooden windows with direct fix aluminium windows. They were also asked to replicate this to the French Doors we were having to replace the original Patio doors. We were also demanding on the way in which the leading was done. Cosyhomes rose magnificently to the challenge. They achieved all we asked and the result was as good, if not better than we had expected. The whole team, office and fitters, were a pleasure to deal with and we felt that nothing was too much trouble.

On this project, bearing in mind the task we set, it was only to be expected that some problems might arise. The hiccups that happened, not necessarily due to any fault of Cosyhomes themselves, were handled quickly and efficiently without any fuss. Of all the trades that we have used recently Cosyhomes were easily the best!”

Cosyhomes has a long-standing relationship with this family in Chessington, and we were recently asked back to change the three bay windows at the front. To add dimension to the installation the customer wanted to retain the lead work and fan-light design of the windows, which always excites our team as we get to be a bit creative. With the opportunity to update; a fresh, modern design was thought out and put into production.

The customer was over the moon with the bevelled tulip glass and we have had many comments in our show room on how simple yet elegant it looks. There are many options with lead work or coloured fan light designs – you can even design your own. Contact us if this is a requirement of your next project.
